Program Development Specialist/ Curriculum Writer

Job Summary:

Blue Ribbon Academy is seeking experienced curriculum writers with a passion for working in the early childhood education field.

We utilize constructivist theory and best practices from progressive curriculums like Piaget, Reggio Emilia, and Montessori, to inform our curriculum development and to guide our practice.

The Program Development Specialist/Curriculum Writer will work with the education team to develop and write developmentally appropriate, STEAM-based dual language immersion curriculum for various programs. Programs to include: Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and After School Enrichment Programs.

The ideal candidate will have experience conceptualizing and writing research-based curriculum and other educational materials for early childhood education.

 

Our Children-centered and developmentally appropriate curriculum focus on five domains:

  1. Gross/Fine Motor Skills Development

  2. Cognitive Development 

  3. Social & Emotional Development

  4. Intensive Language & Early Literacy Development

  5. Global Citizenship and character development

 

The subjects including but not limited to:

- STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math)

- Music and Movement

- Humanities, Language Arts, English

- Reading, bilingual education, ESL

- History, Social Studies, and more

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, or other relevant degrees

Required License or Certification:

  • Permit from CTC (Desired)

  • CA Teaching Credential (Desired)

  • TB Test, CPR Certificate (Adult / Pediatrics / First-Aid) , Live Scan clearance required prior hiring

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Draft and/or revise age appropriate curriculum

  • Collaborate with education team to ensure supporting materials aligns with lesson objectives

  • Incorporate feedback based on observation, research, and other data to ensure learning standards are being met

  • Experience implementing curriculum in before and after-school programs

  • Coach teachers and staff in the implementation of the STEAM based dual language immersion curriculum and programs with an emphasis on high-quality instruction

  • Monitors the educational services budget to ensure efficient operation and appropriate environment set up, which includes developmentally appropriate, sufficient and safe materials.

Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, or other relevant degrees

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

  • Knowledge and experience in the theory and up-to-date effective practices in teaching, learning, and curriculum design

  • Experience conceptualizing and writing developmentally appropriate curriculum and educational materials

  • Experience in implementing, monitoring and assessing curriculum and programs

  • Demonstrated competence in creating materials for diverse populations

  • Ability to incorporate a variety of feedback into written work

  • Ability to work with communities and families from a strength-based approach

  • Demonstrated coaching, training, and leadership skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)

  • Ability to work well independently and multitask

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office along with experience with Adobe InDesign

Preferred Qualification:

  • Knowledge of graphic design (Photoshop, Illustrator) and Interactive Whiteboards.

  • Working knowledge of elementary school curriculum

  • Teaching experience with dual language immersion program (Chinese/English; Spanish/English)
